Robert Harvery Oshatz – Floating House

Located in Portland, Oregon, the Fennell residence, is one truly unique floating house. Designed by architect Robert Harvey Oshatz, this extraordinary house evokes the poetry of the ripples and contours of a river. (photos by Cameron Neilson)

The architect use curved glue lam beams to accentuate the moving water that surrounds the house. The access on the deck is made through sliding glass doors.

“A master bedroom sits over a study and looks out over the living dining area and out to the river beyond. The curvilinear forms create spacial differentiation that enhance the experience of time as light plays through the daily and seasonal changes.”
