Project: Afghanistan: Not the War Only
Summary: Part of a larger, long-term project by Bulaj about conflicts in Central Asia. In addition to covering specific issues such as reconstruction and women’s schools, Bulaj will also explore “hidden” worlds, including the culture of Sufism; nomadic tribes and religious minorities.

Project: Wounded Knee: Generations Endure a Massacre
Summary: An exploration of the aftermath of the 19th century Wounded Knee massacre in South Dakota and of the 1973 stand-off between the American Indian Movement, which occupied Wounded Knee for 71 days, and the US government. Wilcox will examine the plight of the Lakota Indian people who are still fighting for disputed lands.
