Inspired by the spiny sea urchins, Jennifer Maestre‘s fabulously colored pencil sculptures give a new perspective to these day-to-day objects, taking this drawing tool beyond drawing.
For each sculpture, Jennifer uses hundreds of colored pencils, hacks them and cuts them into beads which she meticulously stitches back together and slowly a beautiful sculpture emerges.
Her works are not always planned from the very beginning. Some pieces morph and shift as they take shape into something completely unplanned but nonetheless compelling.
With her incredible works of art, this artist had dozens of exhibitions over the past decade and has also won numerous awards, pushing herself in new directions while exploring the limits of her unique approach.(via Dornob)
